The party continues crawling through the narrow goblin tunnels with Taco in the lead. The tunnels in this area are about three feet diameter. Taco approaches a section of the tunnel that is larger. He cautiously enters the wider cavern. This new section of the cavern it’s approximately 10 feet wide and has pillars roughly one foot in diameter spaced out 10 feet from each other going down the middle of the cavern. Taco turns and shushes everyone to tell them to be quiet as they approach. Taco holds Ember’s lantern as the party makes their way out of the smaller passageway. Taco inspects the pillars and finds them to be simple in design. They are just like a curved stone. Pillar like there’s no carvings on anything that they’re just roughed kind of rough stone. Taco ponders to himself as to how many he would need to break to cause a cave in.
As the party travels down the cavern, attempting to be stealthy against blind creatures and not make noise, eight goblins emerge from small passages in the cavern walls.
The goblins, ready to attack, snarl at the invaders to their home. Four of the goblins advance toward the party. The next group of four goblins advance toward the party and surround Ember. Three of the goblins get lucky hits against Ember with their rudimentary spears.
Ember strikes back at the goblin directly in front of her killing it with a single decisive blow.
Brahi charges in and stikes one of the goblins with his hammer. The goblin flies a dozen feet and hits a wall perishing from the initial strike.
Richard moves as far as he is able toward the goblin threat. He closes the distance with one of the goblins and using his hammer strikes and kills another of the goblins.
Taco thinks about disarming the goblin as he runs up to attack. When he swings his bastard sword with two hands the thought of doing non lethal damage leaves his mind and he cleaves the goblin in two.
Maleth shoots a goblin with his short bow killing it before it hits the ground.
Richard runs up with his hammer and deals another decisive blow killing another goblin.
Brahi charges toward a goblin and stikes it with his hammer.
Ember advances against the eighth goblin and kills it with her sword.
As the party continues down the cavern Ember notices a door in the cavern wall. Ember manages to locate and disarm a trap as she approaches the door. Meanwhile Maleth loots the bodies of the dead goblins. He finds 7 ancient gold coins.
As Ember opens the door she hears shuffling from within as if many tiny feet were moving about. The light from the lantern shows that the room inside the door splits into two directions. Richard follows Ember as Ember steps into the doorway. The sound of claws on leather can be hear as well as the sound of a blade being unsheathed. A yell in a language unfamiliar to everyone in the party resonates through the chamber. The sound coming from the chamber to the right gets louder, as if the creatures within are preparing for something. Ember realizes that she does not have the element of surprise,
The goblins in the room to the right begin to enter formation to deal with the party and to defend their home. They attack Ember and she suffers damage from the goblins. The goblins then change their formation such that a goblin sits on the shoulders of another goblin, stacked two high. preparing for another attack. Richard grabs Ember and pulls her away from the goblins while taking her place next to the goblins. Ember is impressed as she has been pulled to safety,
Taco makes use of his mutagen ability and activates demonic convergence, his flesh starts to move, twist, and harden.
Ember pears past Richard and throws one of her daggers killing the lower goblin in front of Richard,
Brahi runs past Ember and pushes Richard forward into the room another five feet.
Maleth fires past Brahi and Richard striking another goblin.
Two additional goblins in tougher armor appear from the room to the left. With one goblin stacked upon the other. The top goblin hold a spear and the bottom goblin has a dagger through his nose and holds a shield. The upper goblin attempts to strike Richard with his spear. He barely misses.
Brahi moves up between Richard and the pair of goblins with the spear and nose dagger. He swings his hammer causing brain damage. The goblins chest caves in as he flies off of the other guy and lands a couple squares back now dead.
The goblin with the nose dagger attacks Brahi cutting his leg. Luckily the wound was minor,
The less armored goblins resolve their formation tossing a goblin forward onto the shoulders of the goblin in front of them. One goblin fails his landing and falls to the ground. A goblin hits Richard, but Richard shrugs off some of the damage with his heavy armor proficiency. The goblins then tackle Richard making him prone.
Taco standing right behind Richard uses his bastard sword to kill one of the goblins.
Ember makes an impressive acrobatic maneuver jumping over Taco and Richard. She yells “parkour” as she passes over two goblins and lands next to them.
The goblins once again resolve their formation making sure that they are stacked two high. The goblins strike Richard and again Richard manages to resist some of the damage with his armor proficiency.
Maleth positions himself to shoot into the goblins. He fires his bow true and kills another goblin.
The nose knife goblin takes another attack against Brahi and misses
Richard punches the goblin tackling him and then stands up.
The nose knife goblin hits Brahi.
Brahi returns with a strike from his hammer crushing in his chest. Brahi thinks to himself about how many goblin skulls he will be able to collect.
The goblins attack Richard and fail to land a hit.
Ember strikes a goblin killing the goblin on the bottom of the stack.
The goblins attack again missing their targets.
Taco performs an impressive parkour maneuver and then strikes a gobin with his bastard sword.
Maleth shoots from the doorway. The arrow lands in the heart of a goblin, stopping it from beating further.
The goblins attack. Most of the goblins miss their attacks, but one of the goblins hits ember for a minimal amount of damage.
Ember hits back with her sword piercing the goblins lungs through it’s rib cage and yanking her sword back out. She then moves into position to corner a goblin with Richard.
Richard does a non lethal attack, knocking the last goblin unconscious. The party then ties up the goblin before it regains conscious.
Brahi uses his bardic abilities to communicate with the goblin while Maleth searches the room finding 277 ancient coins. Brahi asks if the goblin wans to surrender. Brahi degrades the goblin saying “you are my pet now”. The goblin resonds by spitting on the ground. Brahi asks the goblin to show him where everything is. The goblin says “you kill zornog. You new chief.” Brahi asks “How big is Zornog?” The goblin points back at Brahi. The goblin touches the wall and says “Is like, This.”
Ember kneels down to the goblin and says “hello friend.” She then gestures toward herself and says “Ember. Ember.” The goblin replies “Trussnot.”
Brahi puts one side of his black iron manacles around the neck of the goblin before he is untied. Brahi tells the goblin “you want that off later, you stay with us.”
The party takes a short rest. Richard performs lay on hands for Ember.
After the short rest the goblin, Trussnot, leads the party to Zornog. He starts to use one of the very small tunnels and then comes back realizing that the party would not fit through the tunnel. He then leads the party through a larger tunnel. The party is led to a chamber the path splits in two. Trussnot indicates that the path to the left is the burial chambers are to the left and that the worship chamber is strait ahead.
Ember prepares to opens the door to the worship chamber quietly. She stumbles into the room after opening the door. She recovers to her feet and realizing she has falied to make a stelthy enrtrence shouts “oh, great zornog, we are here to worship” while having her weapons behind her back.
The central chamber is a worship hall with a 20 foot high, dome ceiling. A round pillar expertly carved in the shape of a great goblin arm and claw that holds up the roof. The hands claws are silver. Obsidian statues are set into the flat walls depicting long dead leaders of the goblins. A goblin statue sits in front of the central pillar.
Taco and Ember enter the worship chamber and as they inspect the statue they notice the eyes of the statue slowly open. Brahi also enters the room.
Ember talks about the statue being alive and says “Blow it up.”
Grinning, Taco asks “Really bombs.”
Ember replies “Yep.”
Taco confirms “Bombs.”
Ember reassures “Bombs.”
Taco rigs 9 bombs around the statue such that when it moves they would all trigger at once. Richard stands in the hall with the door closed ready to rush in and finish the job with his divine smite.
Brahi slams the head of the goblin statue with his hammer creating a crack in the head.
After the bombs are set Brahi, Ember, and Taco take cover behind walls in the worship chamber. After waiting for the goblin statue to trigger the bombs Ember throws a dagger at the trigger wire causing the bombs to trigger a massive explosion. A multi-colored fireball just kind of radiates through the room. The three party members in the room jump back behind the corner of the walls they are using for cover. As it is, the like the flash of fire is gone, as it fizzles out.
Richard runs into the room to smite the stone creature, but finds the statues laying in pieces.
A Strange odor lingers in the room, but it a few minutes it dissipates. The big stone pillar in the middle has a big crack in it. Ember uses a glue pot to help restore the integrity of the central pillar. The glue kind of seeps into the hole and sticks there. Ember looks around the room for anything worth taking and finds that the obsidian statues in the wall have green gems placed for their eyes. She takes the gems.
Brahi goes in search of Trussnot. He goes to Maleth who had held a position that would have stopped anyone from exiting through the entrance they had used. Maleth tells Brahi that Trussnot had gone in the direction of the burial chamber. They both go into the burial chamber. Brahi triggers a trap where one of the coffins slams into him pinning him against the wall. They manage to push the coffin back in place and continue where they locate Trussnot hiding next to another door that adjoins the worship chamber. Brahi leads Trussnot into the worship chamber and explains that Ember threw the dagger that triggered the explosion. Trussnot responds that Ember is the new chief. Ember distributes one green gem to each of the party members and also gives one to Trussnot. Trussnot steps away from Brahi toward Ember and accepts the gem. He seems pleased. Ember, the goblin queen, walks with Trussnot as the party exits the worship chamber.
