Following the battle to defeat Zornog, Trussnot shows Ember (the new queen of the goblins) the burial chamber and tells that the party may gather any loot they find. Ember and Taco work to disarm traps on the first two burial chambers. While Ember and Taco are working, Richard announces that he too can disarm traps. He walks past Ember and Taco toward the third burial chamber. A pressure plate triggers under Richards foot. The floor opens up revealing a pit. Richard leaps over the pit. The pit starts to fill with water and then the opening of the pit closes.
The party works to search all of the chambers. They find a magical bow, many pots of gold, and vials of liquid. Taco inspects the vials and finds a striking resemblance to potions made by hags. The potions sparkle and Taco suspects that they may have healing properties.
Ember, with the help of Brahi’s translation, asks Trussnot to show the party the exit to the goblin lair. Collectively the party drags 2690g worth of treasure. (Composed of gold and gems.) As Trussnot guides the party safely to the exit which turns out to not be the same way that the party initially used to enter the goblin lair.
The party’s horses and wagon are not visible from this new location. Maleth starts to use his training in tracking to locate the horses. After searching for a while he decides to climb a tree and from his new vantage point he is able to quickly locate the horses.
The party loads the treasure and equipment. They decide to return to Northgate before continuing on their journey.
On the return voyage the party encounters a group of barbarians on horseback. The barbarians encircle the party. Brahi opens up a dialog with the barbarians in the hope that it would avoid an unnecessary battle. The barbarians ask what the party is doing in their territory. The party explains that they are returning to Northgate to resupply before continuing their quest to locate a settlement north of the whistwood forest. The barbarians tell that they know of the settlement, but that it is not safe. The settlement is cursed and those that venture there do not return. The settlement is the home of a great and terrible fire beast. The barbarians allow the party to continue on their journey.
After continuing their travel until nightfall, the party made camp for the night. As the party gathers by the campfire, Brahi enthralls his audience with a thrilling story. Richard is so moved by the tale that he gains an additional advancement.
In the morning the party returns to Northgate where they expertly locate shop keepers and purchase their wares. In short order the party has gathered all that they need to confidently return to their quest to find what may be a red dragon in the settlement north of the Wistwood forest and defeat it.
